8 Goals in 45 Minutes: Insane First Half in Bundesliga
The first half of the match between Union Berlin and VfB Stuttgart saw four goals from both teams, making it one of the most bizarre encounters of this Bundesliga season in the German capital.
According to “Varzesh3,” the match between Union Berlin and VfB Stuttgart in the 33rd round of the Bundesliga turned into one of the most unusual games of this European football season, with eight goals scored in the first half.
Just five minutes into the game, Union Berlin took the lead through Ilich. In the 19th minute, Diogo Leite doubled the host’s advantage, sending the Alte Försterei stadium into euphoria once again.
Only four minutes later, VfB Stuttgart’s star Deniz Undav pulled one back for the visitors.
The brilliant performance of Hoeneß’s students continued, and they only had to wait six minutes to equalize, with Enzo Millot making it 2-2 in the 29th minute.
Union Berlin regained control after conceding, and Leopold Querfeld scored the host’s third goal in the 38th minute.
It seemed the first half would end with this scoreline, but the goal fest continued as Julian Chabou leveled again for Stuttgart in the 43rd minute. Three minutes later, Chris Führich scored Stuttgart’s fourth goal, completing their remarkable comeback.
Unbelievably, this wasn’t the end of the first half, as Union Berlin’s first scorer, Ilich, struck again in the 45+6th minute to equalize. Finally, the referee blew the whistle, ending one of the most historic first halves in Bundesliga history.
Interestingly, despite this thrilling first half, no goals were scored in the second half, and the match ended in a 4-4 draw, with both teams sharing the points.
The draw took Hoeneß’s team to 41 points, while Union Berlin reached 36. Stuttgart now sits in 11th place, and Union Berlin is in 13th.
