Rosario Central Excited for Angel’s Return
After 18 Years: Di Maria Ready to Return to His Dream Club
While Benfica refuses to renew Angel Di Maria’s contract, it appears he will finally return to his hometown and wear the Rosario Central jersey.
According to reports, Angel Di Maria’s contract with Benfica expires this summer, and the Portuguese club has so far refused to extend it. The newspaper A Bola recently claimed that Benfica is tired of Di Maria’s recurring injuries and will not renew his contract.
While fans of the Argentine star were concerned about his future, news from Argentina today suggests that Angel is on the verge of returning to his hometown and playing for the team where he began his football career: Rosario Central.
Di Maria is a product of Rosario Central’s academy. After two years in the first team, he was signed by Benfica in 2007 and moved to Europe. Di Maria excelled in Europe, playing for Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain before returning to Benfica for a second stint.
The 37-year-old Di Maria has concluded that his time in Europe is over, and now it’s time to return home and repay his debt to Rosario Central.
Last summer, it also seemed that Di Maria was close to returning to Rosario, but threats from mafia groups in the city made him reconsider. However, today, the head coach of Rosario Central stated that the club is working hard and will do everything possible to have Di Maria in their squad next season. He expressed confidence that Di Maria will play for his team next season.
