Al-Ahli Advances Powerfully Like Al-Hilal;
Osmar Losses’ Students Humiliated Against Saudi Team
Yaisle’s students secured a high-scoring victory against Buriram United of Thailand to advance to the semifinals of the AFC Champions League.
In the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli faced Buriram United at King Abdullah Stadium in Jeddah. Buriram, managed by former Persepolis coach Osmar Losses, failed to deliver a strong performance against Al-Ahli, suffering a heavy defeat.
Al-Ahli, coming off three consecutive wins in the Saudi Professional League, quickly took the lead. The team, backed by passionate fans, dominated from the start.
Yaisle’s team stormed into the game, scoring the first goal in the 4th minute through a brilliant pass from Roberto Firmino and a clinical finish by Riyad Mahrez. Just two minutes later, they doubled their lead.
Ibañez, the Brazilian defender and former Roma star, played a key role in the second goal with a pinpoint long pass that set up Galeno for a composed finish past the goalkeeper.
Al-Ahli continued their relentless attacks, scoring a third goal in the 30th minute from a Mahrez corner, headed in by Demiral and finished by Firmino.
Al-Ahli maintained their 3-0 lead until the final whistle, securing their place in the AFC Champions League semifinals, where they will face Al-Hilal in three days for a spot in the final.
