Amorim: Hojlund Needs to Watch Videos to Learn How to Score
Ricardo Sá Pinto, Manchester United’s manager, criticized Rasmus Hojlund’s performance in the attack following the defeat against Wolverhampton.
According to reports, in a match decided by Pablo Sarabia’s late goal—Wolves’ only shot on target—United not only failed to secure points but also suffered their 15th league defeat of the season.
The poor performance of Rasmus Hojlund, the £72 million striker, was one of the main reasons for fan dissatisfaction, with many now calling for his departure in the summer.
Hojlund once again delivered a disappointing display—slow movements, lack of creativity, and an absence of goal-scoring instinct made his presence on the pitch almost ineffective. Sá Pinto openly expressed regret over his team’s attacking inefficiency after the match, stating: “United’s problem is clear. We conceded from the opponent’s only shot on target and lost the game. The season will have its ups and downs for us, and now we just have to wait for it to end.”
However, Sá Pinto praised the performances of two young academy graduates, Tyler Fredrickson and Harry Amass, saying: “I think they did well. But we need to score goals so these kids have good memories of their games. Days like these are frustrating. We were better than the opponent, but if you don’t score, you don’t win.”
Hojlund’s statistics are alarming—he has scored only once in his last 28 appearances. Even considering his limited opportunities, his poor positioning and reactions inside the box have become a major concern.
In the post-match press conference, Sá Pinto directly addressed his Danish striker, saying: “The only way I know is to work with him; we need to show him videos. He needs to score just one goal. Maybe that one goal will be enough. But if he’s not on the pitch, he won’t score. I’ll try to manage him during games, but he also has to find his own way.”
