Amorim: It's Our Fault for Allowing Opponents to Gain an Advantage

Manchester United secured a hard-fought draw against Bournemouth in the 34th round of the Premier League. Ruben Amorim’s team initially fell behind by a goal and ended the first half trailing.

In the second half, after Bournemouth went down to 10 men, United increased the pressure to change the result. Finally, in the 90+6th minute, Rasmus Hojlund managed to equalize and secure a point for his team.

Ruben Amorim told Sky Sports after the match: “We only got one point. We could have done better, but I think one point was the least we deserved in this game. We created chances but needed to be more clinical in the final third. These are small details. We need to understand the importance of matches much better.

If you look at our recent games, we always do something to help the opponent gain an advantage. Scoring becomes really difficult then, but the players worked hard to at least get a point. Today, we put pressure on the opponent, especially after their player was sent off. We had opportunities but still couldn’t score.”

    Rasmus Hojlund?
For strikers, scoring is always important. But when we analyze the game, goals aren’t the only measure for a striker. This goal is a good boost, but the next game is a new story, and we have to start over.

    Next match against Athletic Bilbao?
Bournemouth’s defensive style is very similar to Bilbao’s, and we can learn things from this game. But again, I emphasize, the next game is a new story, and we have to perform better.

    Evanilson’s red card?
I never comment on red cards—whether we win, lose, or draw.
