According to reports, Deco, the sporting director, hopes that with the completion of VIP stands by Limak in the coming weeks, La Liga will approve the return to the 1:1 rule, allowing Barcelona to be more active in the transfer market.

In the meantime, Deco and Hansi Flick have made important decisions. One of these decisions is abandoning the idea of signing Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao for the next season. Last summer, Nico was a target for Barcelona, but the high transfer cost, the player’s hesitation to leave Athletic, and the progress in signing Dani Olmo prevented the move. Now, Barcelona has decided not to strengthen the attacking line, including wingers or strikers, even in the upcoming summer.

Barcelona benefits from world-class wingers like Raphinha and Lamine Yamal. Ferran Torres has also performed brilliantly whenever given the chance, and Flick believes that with these players and Fermín López’s ability to play on the wings when needed, there is no necessity to sign a new winger.

The situation is similar for the striker position. Robert Lewandowski, with one year left on his contract, has had an excellent season, and Flick, who knows him well, has full confidence in the Polish striker.

Torres, in Lewandowski’s absence—especially in the Copa del Rey—has performed well as a false nine. Dani Olmo, despite injuries, has been a reliable backup for Lewandowski and could have performed even better if not for his injuries. With these options, Barcelona sees no need to sign a new striker. These decisions reflect Flick’s trust in the current squad and Barcelona’s focus on managing their limited financial resources to strengthen other areas.
