Barcelona Files Official Complaint: Players Are Being Destroyed!
Barcelona intends to file an official complaint due to the short intervals between matches and the excessive pressure placed on players.
According to reports, both Hansi Flick, who had previously expressed frustration before the match against Celta Vigo, and FC Barcelona have criticized the match scheduling, which prioritizes television interests over the sporting needs of teams competing in multiple competitions. The dissatisfaction is so severe that Barcelona plans to submit an official complaint to the relevant authorities.
The issue that angered Flick was the forced rescheduling of the La Liga match against Valladolid, which was moved to May 3 at 9 PM (local time) to allow Barcelona more rest. Originally, it was scheduled for May 4 at 4:15 PM. With this change, Barcelona will have only 70 hours and 15 minutes to prepare.
Barcelona has valid reasons to complain about the lack of preparation time before Champions League matches. In their first two matches against Monaco and Young Boys, Barcelona had roughly four days to recover. However, the crisis began afterward. There was only a 70-hour and 15-minute gap between the La Liga match against Sevilla and the clash against Bayern Munich.
And that wasn’t the end of it. There were approximately 75 hours between the derby against Espanyol and the match against Red Star, while only 70 hours and 15 minutes separated the games against Celta and Brest. At least in the group stage match against Dortmund, there was slightly more rest.
After the Super Clásico, only 69 hours remained before they faced Betis in the Copa del Rey. There were 70-hour and 15-minute gaps between matches against Getafe and Benfica, as well as Valencia and Atalanta. At that stage, European opponents were still in the group phase. After facing Real Sociedad, Barcelona had only 75 hours before the first leg of the Round of 16 against Benfica.
Following the international break and the match against Osasuna, Barcelona had only 65 hours and 15 minutes to prepare for the game against Girona. And after the clash with Michel’s team, there were just 75 hours before the Copa del Rey return leg against Atlético Madrid. The situation has become unbearable, as only 70 hours and 15 minutes separated the match against Alavés and the trip to Dortmund. Hence, the club is considering filing a complaint to put an end to this unsustainable schedule.
