Permanent Transfer of Valle to Como
Barcelona’s First Summer Transfer Move
Alex Valle, Barcelona’s young left-back, who joined Como on loan in January 2025, has quickly become a key player under the management of Cesc Fabregas.
According to reports, Como is ready to activate the player’s buyout clause by paying €6 million to secure full ownership from Barcelona. Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed this.
Valle, who is under contract with Barcelona until 2026, is currently on his fourth loan spell to gain more experience and playing time. He was initially loaned to FC Andorra in January 2023, then joined Levante in the summer of the same year. In August 2024, he was loaned to Celtic Glasgow before moving to Como in Italy in January 2025.
Valle immediately impressed at Como, making his debut against Bologna just days after joining. Although Como lost that match 2-0, Valle’s performance in his 85-minute appearance was commendable. So far, he has played 761 minutes in 10 Serie A matches.
The €6 million payment by Como is good news for Barcelona, as the club seeks to improve its financial situation to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations and have more flexibility in the summer transfer market.
However, Valle faced stiff competition for the left-back position at Barcelona. During the pre-season in America, he performed well under Hansi Flick, but Flick preferred Gerard Martin as Alejandro Balde’s backup.
Balde, currently in the best form of his career, has left little room for Valle with the most minutes played in the team. Additionally, Flick can also use Hector Fort at left-back, as seen in the recent match against Mallorca and earlier under Xavi Hernandez. This intense competition has made Valle’s move to Como a golden opportunity to prove his abilities, and he will definitely leave Barcelona permanently this summer.
