Italian Media Reaction:
Barcelona is Scary but Inter Must Win!
Italian media hopes Inter Milan will display a confident and different performance against Barcelona tonight.
According to reports, Barcelona and Inter Milan will face each other tonight in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals. The match will take place at Montjuïc Stadium, with both teams hoping for a positive result to carry into the return leg at Giuseppe Meazza.
The match comes as the two teams enter under vastly different circumstances. Barcelona, after defeating Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final, has maintained stability in La Liga. Meanwhile, Inter has suffered three consecutive defeats in their last three matches—a trend that has raised alarms in Italian media, with analysts largely favoring Barcelona.
Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport wrote in its preview: “This Barcelona is terrifying, but Inter must believe. The Italian champions are tired and in crisis. Inzaghi must field a team that plays with confidence, as they have shown in Europe this season.”
The publication also referred to Pedri as the “new Iniesta” and described him as an Oscar-winning director who is “the real key to Flick’s football.”
Meanwhile, Lúcio, former Inter defender and 2010 Champions League winner under Mourinho, told Gazzetta: “It’s not just Yamal… What must Inzaghi do to experience a night like Mourinho’s?”
Corriere dello Sport also pointed to signs of physical and mental decline in Inter’s team. They claim Inzaghi enters the match as the underdog, making his task even harder: “Simone enters the field in the loser’s position, so he must demand and receive something beyond the maximum possible from his players.
I encourage him, we will encourage him, without hiding. I don’t intend to ask Juventus or Milan fans to make impossible sacrifices, but others must push Italy’s representative forward as much as possible.”
For Barcelona, this match represents a chance to return to the final after years, while for Inter, it is an opportunity to repeat last season’s glory or even recall the golden era of 2010.
