Barcelona's New Plan: Next Champions League at Camp Nou

Barcelona continues to set deadlines for returning to Camp Nou. After confirming delays in construction by Limak Construction, the club insists on meeting one more deadline: the start of the Champions League in mid-September.

Barcelona has ruled out the possibility of playing the next Joan Gamper Trophy at Spotify Camp Nou in August. The stadium must be ready to host 60,000 spectators for group-stage matches by September 16, pending safety approvals.

UEFA requires clubs to host the entire group stage at one stadium. Barcelona currently has no plans to request Montjuïc Stadium again from the city council.

Construction progress has accelerated recently due to cooperation from Barcelona’s city council, resolving disputes with residents and permitting 24/7 work.

    Camp Nou Reconstruction

The club hopes to receive permits for stadium completion this summer. President Joan Laporta has expressed satisfaction with Mayor Jaume Collboni’s cooperation.

Another key decision has been made: postponing the roof installation by one year to May 2026. Temporary structures will protect seats during this period.

VIP seat installation must be completed by June 30 as part of agreements with Qatari investors and New Era Visionary Group, owned by Moldovan businessman Ruslan Birladeanu.
