Barcelona Star Frustrated: ‘At Least We Advanced!’
Frenkie de Jong, Barcelona’s Dutch midfielder, expressed strong dissatisfaction with his team’s performance against Borussia Dortmund.
Barcelona faced Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals at Signal Iduna Park. Despite suffering a 3-1 defeat, they advanced to the next round thanks to their emphatic first-leg victory.
De Jong was visibly upset with the team’s display, joining teammates Robert Lewandowski and Jules Koundé in criticizing their performance against Dortmund.
The Dutch star told reporters: “I’m glad we advanced, but we didn’t play well. It’s hard to explain why. Many players underperformed. I think we all know we’re capable of much better than what we showed tonight, and that leaves a lasting impression. I’m sure tomorrow we’ll be happier about reaching the semi-finals, but right now we’re not satisfied with this performance or result.”
