Karim Benzema’s heel prevented him from overtaking Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League (Roshn League).
In Thursday’s match against Al-Fateh in the 28th round, Benzema scored for Al-Ittihad, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Video replays showed that the former Real Madrid striker was offside by just his heel, denying him the chance to surpass Ronaldo as the league’s top goal contributor this season.
Had the goal stood, it would have been Benzema’s 26th goal contribution this season (18 goals, 8 assists), while Ronaldo currently has 23 goals and 3 assists (26 contributions).
