Best in Asia: No News from Iran!
Three stars of the Uzbekistan U17 national team were selected as the best players of the AFC U-17 Asian Cup.
Following the surprising championship of the Uzbekistan U17 national team in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup, three key players of the team managed to win prestigious individual awards. Nematullo Rustamjonov, the team’s goalkeeper, was awarded the best goalkeeper of the tournament; a player who had a brilliant performance in the final against Saudi Arabia and played a key role in keeping a clean sheet for his team.
Alongside him, Asilbek Aliev, with crucial goals scored during the tournament, received the Golden Boot and was named the top scorer. Additionally, Sadriddin Hassanov, who beautifully scored the second goal for his team in the final against Saudi Arabia, was selected as the best player of the tournament to complete his brilliance with this award.
The Uzbekistan team’s championship came as they defeated the tournament hosts, Saudi Arabia, 2-0 in the final despite being reduced to nine players. This team had also defeated Saudi Arabia in the group stage and eventually managed to bring the trophy to Tashkent.
The Uzbek team won the championship and individual awards while Iran’s team failed to advance from the group stage and was eliminated early from the competition.
