Bruno Fernandes: Not Losing Was Very Important for Manchester United!

Manchester United drew 1-1 against 10-man Bournemouth in the 34th week of the Premier League, thanks to a goal from Rasmus Højlund.

Bruno Fernandes, however, is not too disappointed with the result, stating that the team’s primary goal was to avoid losing.

Manchester United’s captain told Sky Sports about the importance of not losing: “Today, it was very important not to leave the pitch as the losing team. We are not at our best in the Premier League, so we needed the points. This wasn’t the result we wanted, but we had to fight hard to get something.”

“We worked hard enough to at least score one goal. We created enough chances to score more, but it’s still not enough for us.”

    On the team’s aggression:
“To win the ball, we need to be angrier than the opponent’s defenders. To regain possession, we must focus on everything we do in training. That’s what we must do from now on.”

    On Rasmus Højlund’s goal:
“He knows very well how much he needs to score for this team. If you want to be at a big club like Manchester United, you must improve every time you step on the pitch, but it’s not just his responsibility. Expectations are high, and he must deal with them.”

On facing Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League:
“Both teams press high and have very fast wingers who excel in one-on-one duels. We now have time to prepare and focus on what Athletic will do, but first, we must focus on our own game.”
