Fabio Capello believes Simone Inzaghi’s lineup choices in last night’s derby were somewhat arrogant and considers the uncertainties about Sergio Conceição’s future misleading.

Capello: Inzaghi's Lineup Was an Arrogant Decision Against the Derby!

According to reports, AC Milan defeated Inter Milan 3-0 in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semifinals last night and advanced to the final. Capello, in his column for La Gazzetta dello Sport, described Milan’s victory as clear, decisive, and exciting, stating that such performances have been rare this season.

He continued: “Inzaghi’s team had chances to take the lead in the first half, but in the second half, Milan was confident, powerful, and determined. Inter faded away, as has happened before. Many will talk about fatigue, but I think it’s more of a mental issue. I wouldn’t be surprised if last season’s champions, after beating Bayern Munich, have somewhat lost touch with reality. I hope the victory against Bayern is not seen as the final destination but rather as the starting point for something greater.”

    Capello analyzes the match

Capello added: “I even sense a bit of arrogance in Inzaghi’s choices. He used a rotational system in a derby that was almost like a final. This time, it seemed he underestimated the Coppa Italia and disrespected the derby.”

AC Milan has remained unbeaten against Inter this season and has a chance to win their second trophy, but they are currently ninth in Serie A and will likely miss out on the Champions League.

    Milan's victory celebration

Capello argued: “Even winning against Bologna in the final in Rome on May 14 won’t save a season where you’re not even competing for a Champions League spot. Winning a trophy is better than nothing, but will it be enough to keep Conceição? I think this question is misleading. I focus more on the locker room and whether there’s a shared path that offers hope for the future.”
