Conte: It's a Miracle, We Can Win the Title!

The excitement at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium was high, as the top of the table has seen many changes in the past eight days. While Napoli was three points behind Inter last week, they are now three points ahead after consecutive wins against Monza and Torino, and Inter’s losses against Bologna and Roma.

Did Conte and Napoli players gather this afternoon to watch Inter’s defeat against Roma?
Conte told DAZN: “To be honest, I didn’t follow the game at all. We already have enough stress for our own matches, why should we stress about others? I watched the second half of Fiorentina-Empoli. Believe it or not, I don’t care. I turned off my phone and only found out the result later. Everyone chooses how to handle stress.”

Napoli comfortably defeated Torino 2-0 tonight with a brace from Scott McTominay, who has now scored 11 goals in Serie A, four of which came in the last three weeks. Everything is now in Napoli’s hands; they are top of the table for the first time since Matchday 25, with only four games remaining.

Conte said: “There are four steps left. We’ve taken the first step, we’re ahead. It’s like a miracle. Now we have to face teams like Lecce and Parma, who are fighting for survival, and then Genoa and Cagliari. Everything is in our hands. We won with strong determination, a team that was aware of its capabilities. The fans today were like our 12th, or even 13th, player. It was even difficult to get to the stadium because so many people had gathered around us. They were excited and very determined, trying to transfer all their motivation to us.”

    Antonio Conte celebrating

Conte, who last week said, ‘At Napoli, I realized some things can’t be done,’ now spoke about the unique atmosphere at the club: “I realized I should only talk about football and nothing else, because whatever you say gets distorted and interpreted differently.”

The midfield has been key to Napoli’s success this season; not just Scott McTominay, but Stanislav Lobotka and Frank Anguissa have also played important roles.

Conte added: “Looking at the squad, we had to realize we needed more firepower, because we don’t have many players who can reach double-digit goal tallies. So we had to work hard and make the most of the resources we have, improving the players. I think everyone in the team has progressed. You saw in the first goal, Anguissa made a fantastic blind pass to Scott to score. We really worked hard, and now we’re seeing the results. We have 74 points, and with four games left, I think our Champions League spot is secured. Considering where we started, this is truly remarkable. All credit for this success goes to the players.”

What would winning Serie A mean for Conte?
He answered in one sentence: “Winning the Scudetto would be an extraordinary masterpiece.”
