Conte to the Media: You Should Thank Napoli!
Antonio Conte, the head coach of Napoli, believes that the media and newspapers should thank the team for keeping the title race alive.
According to “Varzesh3,” Napoli, under Conte’s leadership, maintained their title hopes with a 3-0 victory over Empoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Monday night.
Romelu Lukaku provided two assists and scored a goal, while Scott McTominay netted twice.
Conte said after the match:“We had an outstanding performance. Empoli is a team that causes trouble. Even under high pressure, they continue with long passes and are very organized. Honestly, I’m surprised they are fighting for survival. I wish them success. They are a very disciplined and good team. We played a great game, even though they could have scored twice. Today, Napoli played like a big team, both in terms of possession and creating chances.”
“Don’t forget that we played without Di Lorenzo for the first time. Anguissa was also suspended. Bonjourno got injured. Yet, the team responded magnificently to the challenges.”
With Inter’s 3-1 victory over Cagliari on Saturday, Napoli maintained their three-point gap from the top of the table. Conte was pleased with his team’s second-half performance:“Some said we play weaker in the second half, but today we were completely dominant in the second half. So, for those who doubted our physical condition, there should be no doubt left. I think the team has made great progress. We were lucky to win the away game against Empoli. I watched that game again. Our progress has been extraordinary. Napoli today is completely different in terms of style, regardless of who is on the pitch.”
“We are in an emergency situation, but I don’t want my players to make excuses. We are still in the race, just three points behind. Our goal was to make the title race difficult, and I think we’ve succeeded so far. We’ve troubled a team that has proven to be very strong both in Europe and domestically. A complete team that has performed brilliantly in Europe.”
Currently, Inter is the only Serie A team still competing in three competitions.
Finally, Conte said:“I think the media and newspapers should thank Napoli for keeping the title race alive.”
