According to reports, in the match between Manchester City and Aston Villa in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium, the visiting team was awarded a penalty, which Pep Guardiola strongly protested.
In the 18th minute, Jacob Ramsey went down in City’s penalty area after a challenge from Rúben Dias. Initially, the referee did not believe it was a penalty, but after consulting VAR and reviewing the incident, he changed his decision and awarded the spot-kick. Meanwhile, slow-motion replays of Dias’ foul were shown on the stadium screens, prompting Manchester City fans to whistle and protest. City players also protested vehemently, and Guardiola received a yellow card for his strong dissent. He immediately approached the assistant referee and fourth official to argue, leading Pawson to book him. Marcus Rashford calmly converted the penalty into the bottom corner.

The Premier League’s official Twitter account stated:“VAR reviewed the referee’s initial decision not to award a penalty to Aston Villa for Dias’ foul on Ramsey and identified a clear error. The referee was advised to review the incident and correctly overturned his original decision.”

The goal leveled the score at 1-1. Earlier, Bernardo Silva had put Manchester City ahead in the seventh minute. However, Villa quickly equalized.

Gary Neville, commenting live for Sky Sports, said: “Rashford has a good record at this stadium. Guardiola is furious and got a yellow for his protest. There are still about 70 minutes left, and Villa have equalized. Rashford was very composed—he waited for Ortega to move before taking his shot. It was brilliant.”
