John Obi Mikel’s Claim:
Controversial Star Wants to Play for Chelsea
John Obi Mikel, former Chelsea star, says Victor Osimhen desires to join the club.
According to reports, there have long been speculations about Osimhen’s potential move to England. It is said that a transfer to Stamford Bridge was discussed multiple times in the summer of 2024, but ultimately, a loan deal to Galatasaray was agreed upon.
This player has maintained stunning individual standards in Turkey, scoring 31 goals in 36 matches, and Napoli is expected to grant a permanent transfer in the next transfer window.
Chelsea is still looking for a proven No. 9 striker, as doubts persist over Nicolas Jackson. Mikel, in an interview with BeIN Sports, claimed Osimhen’s preference for the club: “He wants to play for Chelsea. I hope he plays for a Premier League club.
“I know where the contract negotiations stalled, I know the situation. This is an easy job because all the hard work was done last summer. Now they just need to finalize it. This player does what the best stars of any team do—score goals—and that’s what we lacked this season. We didn’t score enough, and that’s why we are in this position today. Osimhen does what he specializes in.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United is unwilling to pay Osimhen’s £300,000-a-week wages. They were ready to pay around £65 million for the 26-year-old striker but will now focus on alternatives like Ipswich’s Liam Delap.
