According to reports, Wojciech Szczesny is almost certain to stay at Barcelona next season. This was evident from Deco’s comments on Sunday during the DAZN program. When asked about the Polish goalkeeper, the sporting director practically confirmed the news.

Deco on the team’s performance: “When the season started, our goal was to compete for titles. Here, nothing else is acceptable. We are in good form, we have almost all the players available, and we are moving forward with confidence… Winning and losing is a process. Competing is what we must do, and so far, we have done so.”

Barcelona’s sporting director on Wojciech Szczesny’s contract situation: “Szczesny is a very experienced goalkeeper. We had the opportunity to bring him to the team in one of those footballing moments. He was a player we knew could help us a lot. The main work is done day by day by the coaches and the players themselves. We are satisfied with him. He will definitely stay with us next season.”

Deco on Barcelona’s match scheduling: “We always have requests and try to change match times. Sometimes they listen to us, sometimes they don’t. In Champions League matches, we have performed poorly in protecting ourselves with scheduling. The coach has been talking to us about this for a while. We don’t have decision-making power. Everyone understands why the match against Valladolid was scheduled for Sunday and then moved to Saturday; it could have been at 4 PM or 6:30 PM. We would have liked to play a little earlier. We requested it to be at 6:30 PM, but La Liga has its own rules and made a different decision.”
