According to “Varzesh3,” three nights ago in the Dutch Cup final, German player Julian Dirksen converted his penalty into a goal, sparking celebrations at De Kuip Stadium in Rotterdam. The historic Go Ahead Eagles club won the tournament for the first time in its history, ending a 92-year trophy drought.

The Eagles dramatically defeated AZ Alkmaar 5-3 on penalties. Goalkeeper Jari de Busser saved two penalties and, in an emotional post-match interview, said: “You might not believe it, but before tonight, I had never saved a single penalty in my career. Now everything feels so surreal—I have no words. My childhood dream has come true.”

The Go Ahead Eagles players continued their celebrations in the locker room, wrapping themselves in green towels—a Dutch tradition dating back over 100 years.

    Celebration with the trophy

Among the celebrating players was German defender Gerrit Nauber, who played all 120 minutes against AZ Alkmaar’s attackers. The 33-year-old, who joined Go Ahead Eagles in 2021, nearly retired last summer due to a heart condition but underwent successful surgery to continue his career. Nauber described the victory as “unbelievable, unique, and thrilling.”
