Manchester United is experiencing one of the worst seasons in the club’s history. The situation has become so dire that Rúben Amorim recently said this United team is the worst in the club’s history.

Manchester United lost again last night, surrendering to Wolfsburg. Christian Eriksen, the veteran Danish star of the Red Devils, said in an interview today that he knows his team’s problem—a problem related to the team’s spirit and players.

Eriksen said he does not accept fatigue from the Europa League as the reason for the loss to Wolfsburg. He explained: “It’s true that we played 120 minutes against Lyon, and what a dramatic match it was. But that’s no excuse for losing to Wolfsburg because we had made many changes from that lineup. We had enough energy, but the issue was something else—an issue we’ve struggled with all season.”

The Danish star continued: “The team must be fighters. Composed of eleven warriors on the pitch. When you lack this fighting spirit, you won’t achieve anything. Apart from this fundamental problem we’ve had all season, last night I think we were very careless in the opponent’s defensive third. I don’t want to praise the team unnecessarily, but in football, sometimes you play better than the opponent and don’t score, and in the end, you get punished. That’s what happened to us.”
