Juventus made a big mistake, Szczęsny was a leader

Italian coach Fabio Capello, 78, who has managed AC Milan, Real Madrid, Roma, Juventus, and the national teams of England and Russia, analyzed the Champions League semifinals (Arsenal-PSG and Barça-Inter) on Sky Sports.

He strongly criticized Juventus for not renewing the contract of Wojciech Szczęsny, the 34-year-old Polish goalkeeper. Szczęsny had retired from football after leaving Juventus until Barcelona brought him back to cover Marc-André ter Stegen’s long-term injury.

After regaining his form, Szczęsny became Barça’s main goalkeeper and now plays a key role in the team fighting to reach the Champions League final. Capello said: “Juventus didn’t understand this player’s value. They treated him like a retiree, and that was a big mistake because he’s still a top-level player. Szczęsny shows incredible calmness and is a leader.”

Juventus fans now wish Szczęsny success in the Champions League semifinals. The first leg between Barça and Inter will be held on Wednesday, April 30, at Montjuïc Stadium, and the return leg will take place on Tuesday, May 6, in Milan.
