Major Renovation at Ulker Stadium
Fenerbahce: Mourinho Stays, Two Stars Depart!
Fenerbahce, after a controversial home draw against Kayserispor, has entered a tense phase; however, club president Ali Koc remains confident in making key decisions.
According to reports, Fenerbahce, while competing for the Turkish Super Lig title, saw their position shaken after a 3-3 draw with Kayserispor, leading to internal protests. Following this result, some critics demanded resignations and an emergency assembly, but the board decided to continue and outline future plans.
Jose Mourinho’s situation was one of the most critical topics. Contrary to rumors, the Portuguese manager will not leave; in fact, his technical authority will increase. Mourinho will now effectively be the “undisputed football chief” at the club, and the team’s pre-season camp will be held in Austria under his direct supervision.
In terms of squad changes, two major departures are expected. Edin Dzeko and Dusan Tadic, whose contracts are expiring, are on the exit list. Reports suggest Tadic may return to Ajax, while Dzeko is close to joining Croatian club Hajduk Split. Mourinho has requested all summer signings to come from Europe’s top five leagues, and sporting director Branko has been tasked with fulfilling this goal.
Next Saturday, the club’s “Supreme Council” meeting will take place, where strong criticism of the management is expected. However, Ali Koc intends to focus on infrastructure and development projects in his speech.
Finally, the biggest surprise may concern Ulker Stadium. Fenerbahce’s management is considering a major renovation to increase capacity from 50,000 to 60,000. If reconstruction begins, the team may play next season’s home matches at Ataturk Olympic Stadium or even host games in different cities, similar to Besiktas.
