Former Cartoon Team’s Tough Survival in Qatar Stars League
Umm Salal secured a 2-1 victory over Al-Markhiya in the Qatar Stars League, ensuring their stay in the league.
According to reports, the playoff match of the Qatar Stars League between Umm Salal and Al-Markhiya recently concluded with a 2-1 victory for the team formerly coached by Ricardo Sá Pinto, now led by Patrice Beaumelle, securing their place in the next season.
The match, hosted by Umm Salal, saw Antonio Manneh score first for the Orange-clad team, but Ludne equalized in the second half.
Just when predictions suggested the match would go into extra time and then penalties, Khaled Abdulraouf scored the winning goal for Umm Salal in the 90+4th minute. Under the guidance of Beaumelle, Sá Pinto’s successor, Umm Salal retained their place in the Qatar Stars League. This result came despite Umm Salal’s previous season under Sá Pinto, where they won the Qatar Cup and finished seventh in the league.
After Sá Pinto’s mid-season departure to Sepahan, Miguel Koly temporarily took charge before Patrice Beaumelle ensured their survival in the league, albeit with difficulty.
