Morientes and a Tragic Incident
Former Real Madrid Star Came Close to Death
Fernando Morientes suffered a blood clot in his lung due to excessive travel and fought death for five days.
According to reports, the former Real Madrid and Spain national team player is now in good health and thanked doctors for their help in his recovery.
Morientes recently spoke about the issue that hospitalized him for several days. The former Real Madrid, Monaco, Liverpool, and Valencia player developed a pulmonary embolism due to frequent air travel.
Fortunately, the incident ended in just a big scare. Morientes explained: “After all the travel, I felt unwell. On one trip, I felt a sharp pain under my sternum. I thought it was digestive and didn’t want to go to the hospital. But at night, I felt something and immediately saw a doctor. First, they checked my heart and found nothing, then they discovered fluid in my lung. It was a pulmonary embolism.”
He provided further details: “The blood clot started from my knee due to high air pressure and immobility in the car. My blood thickened and reached my lung. I had five terrible days in the hospital and came close to death.” He added that doctors assured him he would fully recover but must now “choose his travels more carefully.”
