It appears Gareth Southgate has bid farewell to football management, as he has officially changed his occupation from ‘football coach’ to ‘company director.’

According to reports, Southgate’s last match as head coach of the England national team was last summer when Spain defeated the Three Lions 2-1 in the Euro 2024 final.

The 54-year-old announced after leaving the national team that he would not return to coaching for at least another year. Now, he has shown the clearest signs of permanently stepping away from football management.

Documents related to ‘MAS Investment Holdings Limited,’ the company managing his £6.2 million property portfolio, state that his occupation has changed from ‘football coach’ to ‘company director.’

This move confirms Gary Lineker’s remarks after the Euro 2024 final: “I think this might be his last game in football management.”

Gareth, who lives with his wife Alison in North Yorkshire, was previously considered a candidate to manage a Premier League team and was even linked with Manchester United, but they ultimately turned to Rúben Amorim. Instead, he is now engaged in temporary and part-time roles.

Southgate serves as a technical observer for UEFA, European football’s governing body, and is also a guest lecturer at Harvard Business School in the United States.

He is also writing a book focused on leadership. The book is expected to include lessons he learned while leading the England national team to back-to-back European Championship finals.
