Getafe Coach Defends Ancelotti: There Is No One Better Than Him
Jose Bordalas, Getafe’s head coach, defended Carlo Ancelotti’s performance in a press conference ahead of their match against Real Madrid.
According to reports, Jose Bordalas defended Carlo Ancelotti in a press conference before the match against Real Madrid. Ancelotti has faced criticism after his team’s elimination against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. Bordalas, who has a good relationship with Ancelotti, praised him: “I have great respect for Carlo and admire him, just as I admire all coaches because coaching is a tough profession. I’m not one to question him, but I don’t think he should be doubted. His achievements with Real Madrid are so immense that it’s unlikely anyone else could reach them. He has a chance to win two domestic trophies and has already won almost everything. There is no doubt about Carlo; he is Real Madrid’s coach and the best option for the team right now.”
Bordalas spoke about Getafe’s situation after two consecutive losses against Las Palmas (3-1) and Espanyol (1-0), saying the team is in good shape: “This season, we’ve shown we can compete against strong teams, and we’re confident we’ll perform well again against Real Madrid, a very powerful team.”
He also emphasized that despite earning 39 points, Getafe has not yet secured survival, and their main goal is to stay in La Liga: “Earning points and winning in La Liga is very difficult. We had a good start in 2025, but we must secure our survival in La Liga as soon as possible.”
Bordalas also commented on the possible absence of Kylian Mbappe and supported having the best players on the field: “Mbappe is an extraordinary, world-class player. I’ve always said I want the best players to be there because it makes matches more exciting. The absence of strong players is not good for football. Just like with our team, I’d like all of Real Madrid’s players to be available, but they have enough players to replace anyone.”
