Giuseppe Marotta:
Inzaghi’s Contract to be Renewed as Soon as Possible
Giuseppe Marotta, Inter Milan’s CEO, claimed that a meeting will soon be held to renew Simone Inzaghi’s contract.
According to reports, Inter Milan advanced to the UEFA Champions League semifinals after defeating Bayern Munich. Giuseppe Marotta, the club’s CEO, is now more satisfied than ever with the team’s progress and, of course, with Simone Inzaghi.
Giuseppe Marotta spoke to Sky Sport about various topics. First, regarding Inter’s advancement to the Champions League semifinals, he said: “Reaching the semifinals fills us, the club, and the city with immense pride. But above all, this honor belongs to the team and the coach. This is not the end; we are still competing in three tournaments.”
How do you evaluate this season?
Regardless of the final outcome, it will be a positive season. We are continuing the cycle that began with Inzaghi, and in Europe as well as in Italy, we are more than ever the main contenders for the title.
Is it possible to set a goal at this stage?
We are Inter, with a history full of success. We are in a tough phase; Sunday’s match against Bologna will be the most important game of the year, where we will fight for the title. We must get used to competing every three days.
Can the Bologna match reveal a lot?
There are still many points to be earned, but it will be crucial for us, as we face one of the most prepared teams in the league. Yesterday’s match was played with great sacrifice, but our role requires us to go beyond. Bologna is a valuable team.
Is this one of the most beautiful Inter teams in the club’s history?
I consider Inzaghi a young coach with many qualities who is always striving for victory. This puts him in an important position. He is tactically strong and skilled in managing the group. Inzaghi has created a great mentality, and even defeats have been opportunities for growth.
Inzaghi’s contract renewal?
He still has one year left on his contract, but it wouldn’t be right to let it expire. We will sit down calmly to renew, and I think it will be a quick and pleasant meeting where we will reach an agreement swiftly.
Lautaro Martinez is always improving. How important was his renewal?
Beyond the contract, he signed a bond of great attachment between the player and the club. He is the captain and has grown as a star. He is our leader, without forgetting others, and has shown clear progress.
What would winning the Champions League mean to you?
Winning the Champions League is the only thing I lack. I see it as a dream, but since dreams often come true, we must believe in it. We are no less likely than Barcelona.
