Guangzhou Coach: We Will Fight to Beat Al Hilal
Guangzhou FC’s head coach says his team aims to reach the AFC Champions League semifinals.
According to reports, Lee Jung-hyo, the head coach of South Korea’s Guangzhou FC, emphasized that his players will fight against Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal to achieve the best possible result and advance to the semifinals of the AFC Champions League (Elite Level).
The match between Al Hilal and Guangzhou FC will take place tomorrow, Friday, at the Al-Inma Stadium in Jeddah as part of the quarterfinals of the competition.
Lee Jung-hyo stated before traveling to Jeddah in an interview with Korean media: “I will fight with all my might to return with a victory. We are definitely striving to reach the final stages and secure the highest possible financial reward.”
He added: “Achieving this goal will allow the players to perform with greater peace of mind and bring psychological comfort to the team members.”
It is worth noting that Lee Jung-hyo has been in charge of Guangzhou FC since December 2021 and has won the South Korean league title twice during this period.
Guangzhou FC eliminated Japan’s Vissel Kobe in the Round of 16. In that match, despite losing 2-0 in the first leg in Japan, Guangzhou managed to win 3-0 in South Korea and advance.
Yaser Asani, the Albanian striker of the team and one of the top scorers of the competition, played a key role in this remarkable comeback by scoring two goals.
