Harsh Criticism of Bayern: They Were Not Good Throughout the Season!

According to reports, Bayern Munich was eliminated from the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals after a 2-2 draw against Inter Milan, ending their dream of a “home final.”

Dietmar Hamann, a Sky Sports analyst and former Bayern player (1993-1998), harshly criticized the team and Vincent Kompany after this bitter elimination.

Hamann said: “Now the focus will be on winning the Bundesliga, but if we look at the entire season, especially their style of play, their achievements have not been sufficient. In my opinion, they were not good throughout the season.”

From the perspective of the former Bayern star, even Kompany should now be worried about his position. He added: “They now need to sit down and evaluate what is best for the club. Every position must be reviewed, and if they conclude they do not want to continue with this coach, they must naturally look for another option.”

However, according to Hamann, it depends on which coaching options are available in the market. Nevertheless, he himself suggests a familiar option.
Hamann continued: “Rumors about Xabi Alonso persist. They also want to sign Florian Wirtz, and if they bring his coach (Alonso) as well, it would be another advantage. In my opinion, nothing is unlikely at this point. We will see what happens in the coming days and weeks—it will certainly be very exciting.”

    Bayern Munich vs Inter Milan

After Thomas Tuchel’s departure from Bayern last summer, Xabi Alonso, the successful Bayer Leverkusen coach, was considered the ideal candidate for Bayern. However, he chose to stay at Leverkusen and did not move to Munich. Amid Hamann’s harsh criticism, Max Eberl, Bayern’s sporting director, was not spared either. The TV analyst said: “They have now renewed expensive contracts with imaginary figures!”

Eberl extended the contracts of Joshua Kimmich (until 2029 at around €20 million per year), Jamal Musiala (until 2030 at around €25 million per year), Alphonso Davies (until 2030 at €15 million + bonuses), and Manuel Neuer (until 2026).
Hamann concluded: “When we see how Inter plays, a team that probably has half of Bayern’s wage budget, then it must be said that Bayern’s performance was clearly insufficient.”
