It Was Just a Joke
Inter Milan Star Takes Back His Strange Claim
Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Inter Milan’s Armenian midfielder, surprised many with his statements during yesterday’s press conference.
According to “Varzesh3,” the Armenian star said he might retire from football at the end of the year. However, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, his remarks were more of a joke.
During yesterday’s press conference ahead of the Bayern match, Mkhitaryan responded to a question about his future: “I’ve already said I’d like to stay here another year, but we’ll see what happens. We have many games, and now is not the time to think about contracts. We’ll finish the season and talk to the club. I might even quit football or leave Inter to find happiness elsewhere.”
These comments caused a stir and raised concerns among the club and fans. However, Gazzetta reported that Mkhitaryan later admitted to his teammates that he had never considered retiring or leaving Inter, and his words were just a joke.
Mkhitaryan reportedly told the Inter locker room that he would happily stay if the club wanted him.
