Where is the terrifying Manchester United we knew?
Jaap Stam: Sorry, but Manchester United is no longer a big club!
Jaap Stam, the former Manchester United star, says the Red Devils are no longer a big club these days.
The major crisis at Manchester United has not only saddened the fans but also the club’s former stars.
Some of United’s former stars have criticized the club’s management and some current players during the season, saying they cannot believe that the great United has come to this state.
A few days ago, Erik Cantona emotionally attacked the owners of Manchester United, saying he cannot believe his beloved club is being destroyed. Jaap Stam, the former Dutch star of the Red Devils, also referred to last night’s heavy defeat against Newcastle and said he is sorry to say this, but United is no longer a big club.
Stam said: “Manchester United is no longer a big club. I am very sad to say this, but it is the truth. Just look at the team’s performance. In last night’s match against Newcastle. What kind of team is this? Can you call this a big team? It’s really sad. Where is the brilliant United we knew, and where is this United that can neither control the ball nor scare the opponent?”.
Jaap Stam joined United in the summer of 1998 after shining at PSV Eindhoven and excelled in the club’s defense for three years. United fans still remember this fierce and giant Dutch defender as one of the most memorable defenders in the club’s history and hold great respect for him.
