Former England Star Jack Wilshere Appointed as Norwich City’s Interim Manager
Jack Wilshere, former Arsenal midfielder, has been appointed as Norwich City’s interim manager until the end of the season.
According to reports, the 33-year-old coach, who previously worked as a first-team coach at the club, replaces Johannes Hoff Thorup. Norwich’s manager was dismissed on Monday.
This decision came after Norwich’s 3-1 defeat against Millwall on Sunday, which left the team in 14th place in the Championship table, 13 points away from the playoff zone.
Ben Knapper, Norwich’s sporting director, stated: “We made this appointment with a long-term vision in line with the club’s overall strategy, but recent results and performances forced us to make a change. We sincerely thank Johannes and Glen for their efforts. Both were outstanding individuals who worked tirelessly for the club’s progress.”
Wilshere will lead Norwich in the final two matches of the season against Middlesbrough and Cardiff City.
Interestingly, in the last match of the season, he will face his former Arsenal teammate Aaron Ramsey, who was recently appointed as Cardiff’s interim manager.
The former England international began his coaching career at Arsenal’s academy, where he managed the U-18 team for two years. He joined Norwich in October 2024.
Wilshere, a product of Arsenal’s academy, played a key role in the development of young players like Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri, who have now broken into the first team and become trusted figures under Mikel Arteta.
