According to reports, Liverpool secured their Premier League title with a dominant 5-1 win over Tottenham at Anfield, but the absence of club legend Jamie Carragher was noticeable.

Carragher was not present at Anfield on Sunday to witness Liverpool’s title celebrations in person, as he had traveled to London to support his wife, who was participating in the London Marathon.

His wife, Nicola, successfully completed the marathon and received the prestigious Abbott World Marathon Majors Six-Star Medal, awarded to runners who complete the six major marathons: Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York.

Family commitments kept Carragher away from Merseyside when Liverpool’s title was confirmed—a victory sealed with a high-scoring win over Tottenham.

However, Carragher shared his thoughts on Liverpool’s title win in his exclusive column for The Telegraph. He wrote: “League titles are won in the crucial period from early November to early March, when teams must endure the intense Christmas schedule, and only the strongest survive. Liverpool won 14 games and drew six during this phase, while Manchester City and Arsenal couldn’t keep up. This period was decisive, especially with home and away victories over the team that had won four consecutive titles. That’s championship form.

By the time the race reached the final weeks, the title was practically secured. The lack of serious competition created an unfair perception that Liverpool lacked excitement. But like any great champion who wins with time to spare, Liverpool had earned the right to finish the job.”
