Japanese Rivals of Al-Sadd and Al-Nassr Arrive in Saudi Arabia
The two Japanese representatives for the knockout stages of the AFC Champions League Elite have arrived in Jeddah.
According to reports, the delegations of the Japanese teams Yokohama F. Marinos and Kawasaki Frontale arrived in Jeddah on Tuesday to prepare for the final stages of the 2025 AFC Champions League Elite.
Kawasaki Frontale’s official account on platform ‘X’ wrote: “We traveled to Saudi Arabia with Yokohama on the same flight. The players of both teams enjoyed talking to each other at the airport and on the plane.”
Yokohama is preparing for a crucial match against Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr in the quarter-finals, scheduled for April 26 at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal City Stadium. Kawasaki Frontale will also face Qatar’s Al-Sadd in the same stage on Sunday at the same venue.
Yokohama F. Marinos suffered their third consecutive loss and sixth defeat of the season in their latest J-League match, losing 3-1 to Urawa Red Diamonds at Saitama Stadium on Sunday.
The final stage of this edition of the AFC Champions League is being held in Jeddah for the first time. The quarter-final matches will take place between April 25 and 27. The semi-finals will be held on April 29 and 30, with the final scheduled for May 4 at Al-Awwal Park Stadium in King Abdullah Sports City.
