According to reports, the giants of the Premier League and Ligue 1 will face off in a direct battle for a spot in the UEFA Champions League final. Arsenal delivered two stunning performances to eliminate the defending champions, Real Madrid, in the quarterfinals.

Mikel Arteta’s men secured a 3-0 victory in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium and followed it up with a 2-1 win at the Santiago Bernabéu, humiliating the European champions over two legs. Meanwhile, PSG overcame a major crisis against Aston Villa to secure their place in the semifinals.

Joe Cole was highly impressed by Arsenal’s victory over Real Madrid but immediately warned the Gunners that PSG holds a “big advantage” due to hosting the second leg of the semifinal.

But that takes nothing away from Arsenal’s performance against Real Madrid—it was an extraordinary night for them. They were absolutely brilliant. To go to Madrid and do that at the Bernabéu is incredible.

If Arsenal were still in the Premier League title race, I wouldn’t give them a chance. But since they’ve now put all their energy and focus into the Champions League, they really have a shot.”
