Aston Villa Initiates Transfer Talks
Kevin De Bruyne’s Potential Stay in England Strengthens
Aston Villa has begun negotiations to sign Kevin De Bruyne following his departure from Manchester City.
According to reports, Kevin De Bruyne has announced that the current season will be his last at the Etihad Stadium, and Aston Villa has expressed interest in signing the 33-year-old midfielder.
Sky Sports reports that Aston Villa has initiated talks to explore the possibility of signing De Bruyne. The Belgian midfielder previously stated earlier this month that this season would be his last at Manchester City, as his current contract is in its final year.
Aston Villa may add the 33-year-old midfielder to their squad after his departure from Manchester City. De Bruyne’s desire to maintain family stability and prioritize balance between football and personal life in his next team has attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs.
In addition to Premier League clubs, four MLS teams, including Inter Miami, Chicago Fire, New York City FC, and D.C. United, have inquired about De Bruyne’s professional and financial expectations.
Italian Serie A club Como is also exploring the possibility of signing the Belgian star. Sky Sports reported that they have contacted Aston Villa for an official statement.
On April 4 of this year, it was announced that Kevin De Bruyne would leave Manchester City after a decade of successful tenure. The 33-year-old, who won 16 trophies with City, including six Premier League titles and one Champions League, will depart the club this summer. He has also won five League Cups and two FA Cups. De Bruyne has scored 107 goals in 417 appearances for Manchester City.
The Belgian midfielder joined Manchester City from Wolfsburg in 2015 for a fee of $60 million and reached his peak under Pep Guardiola. He has cemented his place as one of the greatest players in Manchester City’s history and is undoubtedly one of the most influential players in the current era of the Premier League.
