Kim Kyung-Min’s Bold Challenge to Al-Hilal: ‘I Don’t Know You!’
Kim Kyung-Min, the goalkeeper of South Korea’s Guangzhou FC, delivered a bold message to Al-Hilal players ahead of their AFC Champions League quarterfinal clash.
The match between Al-Hilal and Guangzhou FC, as part of the AFC Champions League quarterfinals, will take place on Friday in Jeddah. The winner will advance to the semifinals to face either Al-Ahli Saudi Arabia or Buriram United of Thailand.
Kim Kyung-Min told South Korean newspaper ‘Sports’: “We shouldn’t be afraid of facing Al-Hilal. We must show the world who we are and present a brilliant image of South Korean football. If we make a mistake, we must rise with strength.”
Kim then issued a provocative challenge to Al-Hilal: “We will finish this game in 90 minutes—no extra time will be needed.”
When asked about Al-Hilal players he knows, he replied: “I don’t know most of Al-Hilal’s players. Maybe only Rúben Neves, João Cancelo, and Yassine Bounou.”
He concluded: “It doesn’t matter who Al-Hilal’s stars are. My job is simply to stop their attacks.”
