Jürgen Klopp's dig at Pep: We don't pass the ball sideways for no reason

Liverpool was leading West Ham 1-0 until the final minutes of the match when an own goal leveled the score. The Reds continued their efforts, and Virgil van Dijk scored in the 89th minute, securing three points for Klopp’s team.

Klopp revealed the reason for his anger in the final minutes, stating he was upset because the referee unnecessarily added seven minutes of stoppage time despite no time-wasting.

Why were you so angry at the end?
I like referees who add extra time, especially when the opposing team is wasting time. But we didn’t waste even a minute, scoring the winning goal in the 89th minute. Yet, the referee added seven minutes. That’s why I was angry. I was only angry during those seven minutes.

Why do you make things difficult for yourselves in every match?
The boys worked really hard. We survived because they scored a crucial goal in stoppage time. But about making things difficult—let me correct that. We always bounce back. After being eliminated from the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain, we came back and showed our high spirit every three days.

You don’t win your matches easily?
No, we don’t win easily. Winning easily means keeping possession and passing sideways hoping for a lucky goal. If we achieve success this season, it’s only because of the mentality and spirit of the boys. You saw the best example of that today.
