Difficult but Possible
Kovač: I Believe in a Miracle Against Barcelona
The Borussia Dortmund coach, ahead of the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against the Catalan team, said miracles happen in football and they are not without hope.
Kovač did not rule out Emre Can’s participation but admitted the chances of him playing are slim. Dortmund faces a tough task tomorrow to overturn the 4-0 defeat from the first leg and is practically out of the competition unless a miracle happens.
Kovač addressed the press conference ahead of the match.
Emre Can’s condition: “We gave Emre Can rest today because he has been struggling with muscle issues for weeks. We are still unsure if he can play tomorrow.”
Team’s situation for the return leg: “We know the situation. We were not good in the first leg. Tomorrow, we want to show a completely different face and win the match. Miracles are always possible, and I believe in them, but we know Barcelona has not lost any official match in 2025.”
Dortmund’s strategy: “Tomorrow, we want to be in the game from the first minute. Our goal is to get the fans behind us, and that is only possible with good performance, passion, and running. In the end, we have to score. We know what awaits us. We must be cautious and have a controlled attack.”
Dortmund’s defensive puzzle: “We played with four defenders in Barcelona. In the last three Bundesliga matches, we played with three defenders, which could also be a good option for tomorrow.”
