Sergio Aguero defends Liverpool’s controversial defender
Liverpool fans overreacting, Trent Alexander-Arnold is neither a snake nor a traitor!
Sergio Aguero has defended Trent Alexander-Arnold, saying that his potential departure from Liverpool should not be considered betrayal.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, despite scoring the winning goal for Liverpool against Leicester this week to bring them closer to the title, remains the target of much fan anger.
While Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have renewed their contracts, there is no news of Trent’s renewal, and his departure at the end of the season to join Real Madrid seems certain. Fans have fiercely attacked him, using terms like ‘traitor’ or ‘snake’ to criticize Arnold.
Today, Sergio Aguero came to Arnold’s defense. The former Manchester City star, who spent years as Liverpool’s rival, said: “Dear fans, when a player makes a decision, you should respect it. You shouldn’t turn a blind eye to Trent’s history. Alexander-Arnold has worked very hard for Liverpool, very hard. Trent has helped Liverpool achieve great success. Of course, I understand the passion fans have for their team, and I understand this loyalty well. But I can’t accept calling Trent a snake. He is not a traitor. These attacks seem excessive to me.”
