According to reports, Carlo Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid at the end of the current season and is set to coach the Brazil national team for the 2026 World Cup. Ancelotti decided to terminate his contract with Real Madrid after recent poor results, including elimination from the Copa del Rey final and the Champions League following a defeat to Arsenal.

Luis de la Fuente, head coach of the Spain national team, is the latest prominent figure in football to comment on the situation of Real Madrid’s manager. In an interview with the program “Fútbol es Fútbol” on Telemadrid, he said: “As a colleague, I express my full support and solidarity with him. The dismissal of a coach is painful for me because I have experienced it myself. Sometimes these situations are unfair. Ancelotti has a brilliant track record and a global reputation that I have admired many times.”

De la Fuente, referring to his deep understanding of Spanish football, stated: “When I took charge of the national team in 2022, I said that few people know the present and future of Spanish football as well as I do, but I was referring to professionals working in clubs and the national team. This is simply the result of doing our job correctly, which is why we now have such information at our disposal.”

Regarding Dino Hovsen’s potential move to a big club like Real Madrid, de la Fuente emphasized the growth of young players: “We must be aware that these players are very young and need guidance to remain humble and proceed with caution. Football changes every day. If Hovsen has no issues, he has the ability to play for any team. I see no limits for him. He is having a great season in the Premier League and is ready. I am sure he will improve even more over time.”

When asked to name a foreign player he would like to see in the Spain national team, de la Fuente said: “Spain has the best players in the world, but I have always liked Julián Álvarez, the Atlético Madrid striker. He appeals to me because of his skill, attitude, commitment, character, and because I have heard he is a great person.”

On the injuries of Rodri and Dani Carvajal, de la Fuente said: “Both are in the recovery process. The injuries have been tough and significant, but we may soon have good news about Rodri. He has the potential, enthusiasm, and health needed for an early return. Carvajal is also recovering, very resilient, and almost ready to return, though his injury timeline may delay him slightly.”
