Inter is a Serious Rival
Luis Figo’s Bold Prediction: Barcelona Has a Treble Chance
Luis Figo believes Barcelona and Inter Milan have a strong chance of winning the treble this season.
According to “Varzesh3,” when Luis Enrique replaced Christophe Galtier at Paris Saint-Germain in 2023, he announced his intention to change the club’s DNA. Since then, a noticeable shift in the team’s philosophy has been observed.
A club long known for its star-studded and high-profile signings now plays with greater control and cohesion under the Spanish coach, even though the previous generation included some of the greatest footballers in history.
After defeating six-time European champions Liverpool in the Round of 16, PSG faced a tough challenge against Aston Villa in the quarter-finals. Unai Emery’s team staged a bold comeback in the second leg, creating a tense match. However, Enrique’s squad managed to secure their place in the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, they will face Arsenal, who decisively eliminated last season’s champions to join the contenders. An exciting clash awaits between two teams that have never won the UEFA Champions League. The winner will face either Barcelona or Inter Milan in the final in Munich.
Figo believes the competition among these four teams is quite balanced, but when asked to name his favorite for the Champions League, the 2000 Ballon d’Or winner replied: “In my opinion, Paris Saint-Germain. They currently have good consistency in results and are in excellent physical condition. Of course, it’s difficult to make a definitive prediction. I don’t feel I can say with certainty which team will win.”
On the other side of the bracket, Figo’s former teams, Barcelona and Inter, will face each other. The Portuguese legend commented: “They are two teams with very different styles. But if someone thinks Inter only defends, they are making a big mistake.
It’s true that Simone Inzaghi’s team has a solid defensive structure and has conceded few goals in the Champions League, but they also have players who can make the difference. We shouldn’t just say they are a defensive team; we need to analyze them more carefully. Inter could even win the treble.”
When asked if Barcelona could also win the treble, Figo smiled and said: “Well, that’s also a possibility.”
