Luka Modric’s Unexpected Next Step: Club Ownership in England!
Luka Modric, the Real Madrid midfielder, is set to acquire a stake in Swansea City soon.
According to reports, Luka Modric, while still thinking about playing at the highest level, has plans to enter the world of club ownership and intends to become a shareholder in Swansea City, the Welsh team competing in the English Championship.
Initial agreements in this regard are said to have been made a few weeks ago, but have not yet been officially announced. The goal of this potential investment is to return Swansea to the Premier League and establish the team among England’s top clubs.
Swansea has previously tasted Premier League football twice. In the first period, from 1981 to 1983, John Benjamin Toshack, the former Real Madrid coach, led the team. In the second period, from 2011 to 2018, Michu, the Spanish striker, played a key role in Swansea’s success.
Modric, who spent his peak years at Tottenham before joining Real Madrid, has a great passion for British football. This potential investment is a step towards Modric’s plans to be involved in football after retirement.
However, he does not intend to retire just yet and remains focused on continuing to shine at Real Madrid and the Croatian national team, which is aiming to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
After the end of his professional career, Modric will turn his attention to the Swansea project. The club, founded in 1912, currently plays its home matches at the Liberty Stadium.
