UEFA’s Payments for Player Participation in FIFA Days
Manchester City Receives Highest Compensation from UEFA for FIFA Days: More Than Real Madrid
Manchester City received the highest compensation among all European clubs from UEFA for FIFA Days.
According to reports, UEFA recently announced that it would pay special compensation to clubs that release their players for national team competitions during FIFA Days. In the first round of payments, Manchester City received the highest amount, surpassing close competitors like Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
UEFA paid Manchester City €5.17 million for their players’ participation in the UEFA Nations League, World Cup qualifiers from 2022 to 2024, and Euro 2024.
Real Madrid ranked second on the list, receiving €4.79 million from UEFA. Inter Milan came in third with €4.65 million.
These payments are part of UEFA’s Club Benefits Programme, designed to encourage clubs to release players for national team duties. The compensation is uniform for all clubs and players participating in the same competitions.
Interestingly, these payments are not limited to top-tier European clubs. For example, Yorkshire Amateur, an amateur team competing in England’s 10th division, received €7,300 under the same programme.
Aleksander Čeferin, UEFA President, stated after the payments: “I am pleased to see clubs of all sizes and levels across European football being rewarded for their role in player development and supporting national team competitions. Thanks to these clubs and their players, UEFA was able to successfully organize events like Euro 2024.”
