Manchester United intends to evaluate the conditions for selling Andre Onana in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Manchester United's patience runs out: Onana on the sale list

According to reports, Manchester United had hoped to focus its summer transfer activities on strengthening other areas of the team, but Onana’s recent high-profile mistakes may have prompted a rethink of these plans.

A report by Laurie Whitwell on The Athletic states: “So far, the goalkeeper position has not been on Manchester United’s agenda. The priority is to sign a striker, possibly another attacking player, a midfielder, and a wing-back to bolster the squad.”

However, due to Onana’s errors in key moments and after Ruben Amorim allowed him to be benched, the feeling within the club is that a permanent separation at this stage could at least be considered by both parties.

Amorim’s decision to bench Onana in Manchester United’s 4-1 defeat to Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday came after the Cameroonian goalkeeper publicly clashed with former United player Nemanja Matic ahead of the Europa League match against Lyon. Onana was at fault for both goals in the 2-2 draw against Lyon.

Andre Onana has the highest goals conceded per game average (1.4) among Manchester United goalkeepers with over 30 Premier League appearances. He also has the lowest clean sheet percentage, keeping the goal untouched in only 26% of his matches.
