Manchester United Rejects Real Betis: Antony Returns to Old Trafford!
Manchester United has rejected Real Betis’ proposal to extend Antony’s loan deal.
According to reports, Manchester United has turned down Real Betis’ request to extend Antony’s loan deal. A permanent transfer of the Brazilian winger depends on Betis’ European qualification, which remains undecided.
Sources indicate that Antony has been identified by United’s hierarchy as a potential departure this summer. The club seeks around £30 million (€41 million) for the winger, who joined from Ajax in 2022 for £85 million (€100 million). The funds would support United’s £200 million transfer budget under manager Rúben Amorim, leading to the rejection of Betis’ loan extension offer.
For Betis to afford Antony, they likely need Champions League qualification. Currently sixth in La Liga, Manuel Pellegrini’s side trails fifth-placed Villarreal by three points, with a game in hand. Spain could secure an additional Champions League spot via UEFA coefficients.
After a disappointing two-and-a-half seasons at Manchester United, Antony has regained form under Pellegrini. The 25-year-old has featured in 15 matches across all competitions since joining Betis on loan in January, contributing to eight goals (scoring and assisting).
