Leny Yoro was the target of strong criticism from former Arsenal star Thierry Henry during an analysis of Manchester United’s disappointing performance on Monday Night Football. Henry claimed that the young defender did something he had “never seen before” after Harvey Barnes scored Newcastle’s second goal.

Footage showed Yoro immediately looking at the assistant referee after Barnes’ goal, behavior Henry interpreted as a lack of desire from Manchester United to compete on the pitch.

Henry faced backlash from fans on social media, who accused him of unfair criticism and poor analysis. Meanwhile, Jamie Carragher deleted a post reacting to the clip with crying emojis.

Yoro seemingly responded to the pundits on Instagram by posting a biblical verse alongside a photo of himself kneeling on the pitch at St. James’ Park.

He quoted Philippians 4:6: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Yoro joined Manchester United last summer for £52 million. After an injury-plagued start, the French star has played in 25 matches, including 17 Premier League games, impressing manager Rúben Amorim and fans.

He scored his first goal for United in the 2-2 draw against Lyon in the Europa League quarter-final first leg last week and is expected to feature in the return leg at Old Trafford on Thursday.
