Depay, in an interview published by Globo, said about the difference between European and South American football: “The world is not just Europe. In European football, sometimes they play with too much thinking. There are too many rules, and some teams focus only on defensive play to secure results.

But here in Brazil, we truly enjoy football and experience pure emotions. In Brazil, very strong and fast players compete. They need to improve tactically a bit, but physically they are excellent. Here, football is played for 90 minutes without stopping—this is pure football, completely different from European football.”
